Gantry crane lift objects by a hoist which is fitted in a hoist trolley and can move horizontally on a rail or pair of rails fitted under a bean. The only other similar cranes are the bridge crane and the overhead crane. Gantry cranes can lift very heavy weighing objects with ease and minimum stress. One application of the Gantry cranes is for shipbuilding where the crane straddles the ship allowing massive objects like the ship’s engine to be installed into the ship.
